The two-date rule that prevents visa panic

One simple habit that restores leverage before you hit a hard deadline.

Feb 12, 2026 5 min read Tags: mobility, planning

Most visa problems are not caused by bad intentions. They are caused by late awareness.

The simplest fix is to track two dates for any stay limit:

  1. The last possible day you can remain
  2. A buffer date that is earlier, when you decide what you are doing

Why it works

The buffer date is where you have options. The last day is where you have consequences.

Make it real

Put the buffer date on your calendar with a short note: “Decision day: extend, exit, or reset.”

This is not bureaucracy. This is leverage.
